President Obama has completely ignored the American public(again!) as well as his his oath made in 2007 (again!) and signed HR 933- dubbed the Monsanto Protection Act which gives Monsanto immunity from prosecution- into law. Many people are feeling understandably furious and betrayed. At this point it’s pretty safe to assume that Obama will also choose to ignore the massive cries for GMO labeling on American foods.
As neat as it sounds, I am not in favor of mandatory GMO labeling, especially after this recent news- the USDA and FDA are deeply corrupt. Before this brand new travesty, do not forget who appointed Monsanto’s Vice President Michael Taylor to FDA adviser. Hint: his name begins with O and ends with Bama. He also appointed biotech lobbyist/chemical pesticide pusher Islam Siddiqui to Chief Agriculture Negotiator in 2010. The revolving door of lobbyists and government officials is just astounding. How many hidden backroom deals are we willing to put up with? The collusion between Monsanto, Dow Chemical,  and the FDA/USDA is absolutely sickening, so why in the world would we want these guys in charge of labeling our food?
The bigger question is where do we go from here? Do we continue to beg Obama to do the right thing (he won’t)? Or do we perhaps disregard the government arm of Monsanto and reach out to businesses ourselves? Despite this major blow, it’s important to remember that there are millions who have a demand for GMO-free food, and suppliers would certainly want to have a piece of this exploding market.  One shining example is Whole Foods’ approach. They are requiring any supplier who wants their product in a WF store to provide a label by 2018, no bureaucratic red tape BS required. It’s worth looking at other alternatives instead of begging for more regulation, when it’s painfully obvious that government agencies could not care less about the citizens.

“Meow, do you know how fast you were going?“

Usually when you find yourself pulled over for allegedly speeding, the officer will be able to tell you how fast you were going. In the state of Vermont, that will no longer be the case. The Vermont Supreme Court just ruled that they don’t even need to use a radar gun to pull drivers over. It sounds unbelievable, right?

The police have some sort of magical power called “visual speed estimation”, and they apparently mastered it while at the academy. This divine ability allows them to determine excessive speed and write a ticket based on that undocumented speed. Proponents of the ruling say that it give police probable cause to search for other possible crimes, such as DUI, possession of drugs, etc.

Just one tiny problem- there’s this phrase some civilians might want to remember: “innocent until proven guilty”. How are people supposed to defend themselves against the almighty “visual speed estimation” of the police? The Vermont courts may want to be more careful in its rulings, unless of course they are purposely styling themselves after Los Angeles law enforcement in their disdain for the Fourth Amendment.

This Facebook post got a former U.S. Marine arrested and placed in a psychiatric hospital after not being read his rights or been told what he is being charged with. Freedom of speech is dead and we no longer live in a free society. I don’t agree with everything he says. Agree or disagree with the content, content is a non-factor, this is beyond acceptable and we should be shaken by the result. You can now put your life at risk while serving your country and be arrested for questioning it.

There is a better way. It’s called freedom. Freedom is called a lot of things. But there is a true meaning. It means very simply that you have the right to do whatever you want as long as you are not infringing on the feedoms of other people.

I firmly believe that God set America apart from the other nations of the world. He saved a place where people could come to to escape bad systems of goverment. This system we have created works. It really works.

There is evil going on all around the world. The United States was meant to lead the charge against injustice, but through our example not our force. People do not respond to having liberty and freedom forced on them.

Men and Women follow courage. They follow leadership, and courage. Our example has paved the way for people all around the world to change their forms of goverment.

Force is not the way because liberty is a powerful concept. The idea that men can govern themselves is the basis for every just form of government.

We can govern ourselves. We do not need to be governed by men who want to install a one world banking system. These men have machine hearts. Machine and unnatural hearts. They have blocked out the possibility of a better world. They fear human progress. They have monopolies on everything.

This life can be free and beautiful. There are enough resources on this earth to support the world’s population. There are enough resources on this earth to feed everyone. There is enough land for everyone to own their own land and farm, and produce their own energy.

These people have been hiding technology. There are ways to create power easily. There is technology that can provide free cheap power for everyone. There are farming techniques that can feed the entire world.

They are controlling your media. They have dumbed you down through your school systems. They have systematically dismantled the constitution. It is in rags.

The bill of rights is being systematically dismantled. Men have spilled their blood for those rights.

Your sons and daughters, your brothers and sisters, and Americas best young men and women are loosing their limbs. They are loosing their lives. They are loosing the hearts. They do not know why they are fighting. They are killing. And they do not know why.

They have done some extroadinary acts. Their deeds go before them. But these wars are lies. They are lies. They decieved our entire nation with terrorism. They have gotten us to hand them our rights. Our Rights! Men died for those rights!

That is a lot of ground for Romney to make up. I will note that the “post selecting Paul Ryan” WI poll has yet to come out. So Romney could pick up 10 electoral votes shortly.

Some of us hear it all the time: “If you don’t vote for Romney it is a vote for Obama.” This is just ludicrous. Why? Because the logic is fatal. All electoral college polls show Obama winning the election in a landslide. So using that logic, people are wasting their vote on Romney and might as well vote for Obama.

As of right now (August 12th 2012) polls show Obama with 237 ECV, Romney with 191 and there are 110 toss up ECV. Obama is winning almost every single toss up state. Romney would need to win 70% of the tossups. Obama would only need to win FL and another small toss up state to win. Some polls have him leading by 5+% in Florida.

So even if Romney gets 51% of the toss up electoral college votes he will still lose. So those of you saying you are wasting your vote, or you want Obama to win if you don’t vote for Romney please stop the logic is fatal.

The American Motorcyclist Association has expressed concern to the EPA about a type of ethanol/gas blend called E15 getting into motorcycles and ATV’s. E15 is not approved by manufacturers of motorcycles and ATV’s and may cause damage to their engines. Motorcyclists use a blend called E10, but hoses that use both blends can still end up getting the E15 into motorcycles. The AMA wrote a letter to the EPA explaining this problem.

In the letter, the VP of AMA’s government relations asked EPA administrator Lisa Jackson what to do about pumps that dispense both kinds of gasoline. What is the EPA’s brilliant plan to solve this problem? Mandate a minimum purchase, of course! It’ll only be required at “certain places”, they add. Says the EPA:

EPA requires that retail stations that own or operate blender pumps either dispense E15 from a dedicated hose and nozzle if able or, in the case of E15 and E10 being dispensed from the same hose, require that at least four gallons of fuel be purchased to prevent vehicles and engines with smaller fuel tanks from being exposed to gasoline-ethanol blended fuels containing greater than 10 volume percent ethanol. Additionally, EPA is requiring that retail stations that offer E10 and E15 from the same hose and nozzle use additional labeling to inform consumers about the minimum purchase requirement.

The problem with that? Well, aside from the EPA having no right to mandate how much gas someone buys, it’s also well known that motorcycle and ATV tanks are much smaller than cars and trucks. Forcing a minimum purchase not only doesn’t solve anything, it really makes things worse. But what else would you expect from a gargantuan government agency?

Mayor says city took action after restaurants asked for “protection” from 13-year-old entrepreneur with disabled parents.

HOLLAND, Mich. — Several weeks after a city zoning officer shut down his hot dog business, 13-year-old Nathan Duszynski and his parents are homeless.

The family was hoping Nathan’s hot dog cart could help them through a difficult time.  Nathan’s mother, Lynette Johnson, suffers from epilepsy and his stepfather, Doug Johnson, has multiple sclerosis. Their illnesses have restricted them from finding permanent, full-time work.

The family receives about $1,300 a month in disability payments, Medicaid and food assistance. The three are having a hard time staying together. MLive confirms what the Mackinac Center learned Thursday — Nathan and his mother are staying at the Holland Rescue Mission.

“Nate and I are now in a shelter,” Lynette Johnson said. “Doug can’t stay with us because he takes prescription narcotics to deal with his pain and the shelter does not allow him with those kinds of drugs.”

She said the situation has been stressful on the family. Lynette is afraid to be away from her husband in case she has a seizure.

Nathan wanted to help out his family by selling hot dogs from a cart he bought with money he saved. He worked out an arrangement with the owner of a local sporting goods store to sell hot dogs in the parking lot. The owner of the store thought it would be a great way to attract customers and even offered Nathan a sales commission if he got people to rent his motorized bicycles.

The city of Holland, however, shut down the business 10 minutes after it opened, informing Nathan it was in the city’s commercial district where food carts not connected to downtown brick-and-motor restaurants are prohibited. The Mackinac Center’s coverage of the issue has drawn national attention.

Last week, Nathan and his family made an appeal to the Holland City Council. Mayor Kurt Dykstra defended the city’s ordinance, saying it was to protect downtown restaurant owners, who asked that the “success of the downtown district not be infringed upon by those who don’t share in the costs of maintaining the attractiveness of that space.”

Elizabeth Warren, spewer of the original “you didn’t build that” speech and kind-of-maybe-Cherokee descendant, is the latest in the never ending “show me your _______” record-demanding between her and Senator Scott Brown. See, Warren and Brown agreed to some ridiculous deal that allows no outside group to put out positive ads for themselves, or put out negative ads for the other. Yes, bipartisan censorship! Instead, Massachusetts and the rest of America get to witness a paperwork Demandathon between the two- with of course Warren being the more demand-y, because that’s really all she has to go on.

I guess it had been a while since Warren demanded something, so Warren called on Brown to release more of his tax returns. Six years worth of returns, to be exact- well, at first. One little thing: he already has. It’s Warren who has only released four years, even though The Boston Globe had requested 6 years from both candidates back in April. But that’s not all- she went further and said, “I think Scott Brown should release his tax returns for all the years he’s been in public service. He’s been in public service for 20 years, then he should have 20 years of tax returns.” Her campaign suddenly backed off this demand when she realized she might be portrayed as a shifty hypocrite.

This whole “show me your papers” stuff is a total circus and purely distraction, but Warren has herself to blame for all this. If she’s going to be aggressive, she also needs to be prepared to be just as transparent. Instead she’s looking like a complete fool and essentially making Brown look good. Oh, and she still hasn’t responded to Brown’s demand (there it is again) for her law school records that may show that she used her “heritage” to gain employment.
